AI Suggested Orders for Distributors

Last updated 6 November 2026 · By Manish Purohit, Founder

AI suggested orders for distributors means next month's order is drafted automatically from recent trend and current stock, rather than guessed from habit. It's for distributors and companies who currently build each order from memory or a rough spreadsheet, and want a starting point built from actual history instead.

The problem

An order built from memory tends to repeat last month's pattern regardless of whether stock is already high, a product is trending down, or a festival is about to lift demand. The fix isn't replacing human judgement -- it's giving that judgement a real starting point instead of a blank spreadsheet.

How WorklikeGenie does it, step by step

  1. Trend. Genie looks at the trailing six months of order/sales trend per product.
  2. Stock. Current stock on hand is weighed against that trend -- a product already overstocked gets a smaller suggested quantity.
  3. Festival-aware. Known festival periods adjust the trend calculation rather than being averaged away.
  4. Draft, not order. A draft order is prepared, never placed automatically.
  5. Edit and approve. A person edits quantities as needed, saves the draft, then places it -- their decision, Genie's starting point.
  6. Track. Once placed, the order gets a unique order number, tracked the same way as any manually entered order.

What you see in the portal

Example
A draft order lists three products flagged “running below trend,” one “out of stock -- restock now,” and one “seasonal item -- festival ahead.” A distributor adjusts two quantities down, removes one line, then places it -- the order is tracked from there with its own order number.

Who it suits

Distributors placing a repeat monthly order who currently start from a blank spreadsheet or last month's order copied forward, and companies who want order quantities grounded in actual trend and stock rather than habit.

How this compares with ordering from memory

Ordering from memory repeats whatever was ordered recently, with no systematic check against current stock or a genuine trend read. A draft built from six months of trend and real stock levels at least starts from data -- the final decision, and the responsibility for it, stays with the person placing the order.

Frequently asked questions

What exactly is the AI doing here?
It looks at the trailing six months of trend and current stock on hand to draft a quantity per product, adjusted for known festival periods. It is not predicting demand from external market data -- only your own order and stock history.
Does it place the order automatically?
No. Genie prepares a draft; a person edits quantities if needed, saves it, and then places it themselves. Nothing ships or gets ordered without a person approving it.
How is 'festival-aware' defined?
The trend calculation adjusts for known festival periods rather than treating every month identically, so a typical pre-festival spike doesn't get flattened into an average.
Can I track the order afterwards?
Yes -- once placed, it gets the same unique order number as any manually entered order, tracked the same way.
What happens with a new product that has no history?
It won't appear as a suggestion -- a SKU only shows up when its forecasted need for next month exceeds what's on hand, and with no trend to project from, a brand-new product has no forecast to compare against yet.
